The Sr. Manager, Health, Safety & Environment is responsible for assuring effectiveness of controls to mitigate the risks, advising on improvement of controls and anticipating emerging risks to help business for developing mitigation plans accordingly in her/his functional scope. The scope of the role covers to plan, implement, report audit and advisory project reviews, provide recommendations on enhancing Health, Safety & Environment practices and follow up of action plans across Majid Al Futtaim Group in alignment with Group Audit and Advisory Services procedures. Effective stakeholder engagement and communication is key for success. The role holder is also responsible for assisting the Internal Audit function to achieve department objectives by improving internal policies and procedures. The Manager, Health, Safety & Environment is accountable for managing one or more audit project(s) or a portfolio in key risk areas.
Job Responsibility:
Ensuring relevance of the Health, Safety & Environment audit plan based on changes to the risk profile and emerging risks.
Build relationships with respective Country Management/Functional Leads to stay at the forefront of changes to the business and to promote the value of audit.
Co-develop the Health, Safety & Environment assurance strategy.
Develop a risk-focused Health, Safety & Environment audit plan based on a comprehensive assessment of risks, relying where possible on management’s (first / second line) assessment.
HS&E Audit Delivery
Socialize and discuss audit objectives, risks and scope with the audit client and take into considerations any issues or risks out of tolerance that the audit client has already identified.
Conduct preliminary discussion of observation with audit clients to discuss audit objectives, risks and scope, and agree on appropriate action plans.
Schedules audit engagements, addresses any client concerns, and manage the team (as applicable) to ensure that work is conducted in accordance with methodology and budgets.
Monitoring Progress
Analyze Health, Safety & Environment data and report trends.
Monitor and manage the follow-up of status of outstanding management action plans.
Policies and Procedures
Provide input on the effectiveness of current policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and departmental policies and procedures.
Comply with the Institute of Internal Auditor’s Code of Ethics.
Human Capital Responsibilities
Assist in implementation of the performance management process by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and provide constructive feedback and provide inputs to Senior Management.
Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles.
Provide inputs on training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements.
Develop and implement on the job-training for the Internal Audit team.
Minimum Qualifications/education
Preferably, professional qualifications in a discipline relevant to HS&E audit focus area, such as OSHA, ISO, EHS, OHSAS, ISO14001, CSP, CIH, OHSAS18001, HAZ, VPP.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in safety engineering, environmental or industrial hygiene or a comparable field.
Master’s Degree would be an advantage, in Engineering, Health, Industrial, Science, Environmental Science, Management, Technical, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Education.
Minimum experience:
Experience in implementing policies and procedures, including the leading of culture change required to embrace those policy and procedure changes
8 – 10 years of professional experience in a relevant discipline
3+ years of experience maintaining and managing day to day health, safety, emergency response, environmental compliance and security activities
