Responsibilities:
Review job specifications and perform thorough pre-planning, including sequencing tasks, assessing the availability of qualified manpower, and ensuring the presence of necessary Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), welding equipment, preheating, and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) equipment. Estimate the welding consumables required for the job.

Develop and review project risk analysis to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.

Formulate and review fabrication plans and build strategies, considering environmental conditions, ergonomic factors, and access to welding areas. Optimize yard equipment and resource utilization.

Ensure validity of welders’ and welding operators’ qualification certificates, suitability of WPS essential parameters, verification of parent material, welding consumables, and establishment of proper working and environmental conditions before commencing the job.

Review Dimension Control/Fit-up inspection reports and guide the team to ensure optimal fit for welding.

Monitor welding operations to ensure adherence to essential welding parameters, preheating/interpass temperature, back gouging, and other procedures as defined in applicable WPS. Ensure proper handling and usage of welding consumables and implement intermediate examinations as necessary.

Oversee PWHT procedures according to approved Heat Treatment Procedure Specification (HTPS) and ensure compliance with NDT requirements before and after PWHT as per applicable standards and project specifications.

Establish and implement traceability systems for welding procedures, welders, date welded, and consumables as per project requirements.

Attend required training sessions and ensure welding supervision is well-versed in Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), welding traceability requirements, and handling procedures for welding consumables and equipment.

Develop a detailed project completion program with manpower allocation and loading.

Coordinate work progress with Project Manager, owners’ representatives, other trades, and within the department.

Review and develop manpower requests and target reports prepared by Foremen/Senior Foremen.

Report work progress provides detailed descriptions and field reports to Invoicers/Estimators.

Collaborate with the department planning section for productivity measurements as applicable.

Maintain project files and keep them up-to-date with all supporting documents as directed.

Actively identify errors and report effectively through the Non-Conformance and Improvement Reporting (NCIR) system.

Train, motivate, evaluate, and provide feedback on training requirements to uplift subordinates’ skills.

Qualifications, Experiences & Skills:

Proficient in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
Holds a Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Possesses extensive experience in welding operations, welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), with a minimum of 8 years of supervisory experience in the oil and gas or new building sectors.
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of various welding and brazing processes.
Familiarity with both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Knowledgeable about stress relieving processes.
Holds at least an International Welding Specialist (IWS) certificate per ISO14731 standards or equivalent qualifications, or has completed the internal training of DDW Welding Supervisor.
Well-versed in International Welding, Offshore Fabrication, and Shipbuilding Standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME VIII, ASME IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, ISO 3834-2, EN 1090, IACS Rec.47, DNVGL-OS-C401, EEMUA 158, among others.
Proficient in welding consumables designation systems, including estimation, ordering, consumption tracking, handling, utilization, and control.
Possesses knowledge and understanding of preheating, interpass control monitoring, and various heat treatment processes.
