The Air Freight Manager will drive the growth and profitability of Air Freight Management (Air, Multimodal, Special Logistics) at Al Futtaim Logistics in the UAE. This role requires strong leadership, effective employee engagement, and direct interaction with key customers. Additionally, the position supports the development of Pharma Logistics and the Oil & Gas verticals within the UAE market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational & Financial Oversight: Full ownership of business unit operations, financial performance, assets, and risk management.
- Stakeholder Representation: Act as the primary liaison with customers, authorities, and senior management.
- Business Development: Drive growth in Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Food & Beverage, Pharma, and Air Freight across the UAE and GCC region.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Ensure seamless collaboration between departments for operational excellence.
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop and manage strategic alliances to optimize supply chain costs and enhance service levels.
- P&L & KPI Management: Oversee profit and loss, budgeting, KPI reporting, and SLA setting to achieve performance targets.
- Talent Development: Lead human resource development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to international freight regulations, government policies, and AEO standards.
- Negotiations & Customer Relations: Manage rate negotiations, maintain key customer relationships, and oversee service level agreements.
- Operational Efficiency & Growth: Focus on driving revenue growth, streamlining operations, and ensuring long-term business sustainability.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Proven track record in managing large-scale Freight Operations.
- Expertise in handling high-value bids and RFQs for new and existing customers.
- Strong negotiation skills with carriers and agents to ensure customer retention and a competitive hit ratio.
- In-depth knowledge of Aerospace, Pharma, Food Logistics, and specialized freight solutions.
Team & Reporting Structure:
The air freight manager reports directly to the general manager of MENA. The role involves leading a dedicated team and collaborating closely with the senior logistics management team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Postgraduate degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Air Freight industry.
- Expertise in Air Freight Operations Management, Procurement & Pricing, Tender Management, and MIS reporting.
- Strong customer-centric approach, commitment to execution excellence, integrity, quality, and compliance.
