Job Title: Food Safety Specialist

Job Purpose:
The Food Safety Specialist ensures compliance with food safety standards and regulations across Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) business units, focusing on maintaining high food safety and hygiene practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary Food Safety partner for the EKFC business unit, providing expertise and guidance on food safety matters.
  2. Regularly inspect catering units to the established schedule and ensure timely submission of detailed reports.
  3. Lead and facilitate weekly or monthly toolbox talks (TBT) on various Food Safety topics to enhance team awareness.
  4. According to the defined sampling plan, collect and test food, water, ice, and swab samples from EKFC business units.
  5. Investigate complaints about foreign objects in food or potential food poisoning incidents, ensuring swift and accurate responses.
  6. Participate in Food Safety Walkthroughs in production and operational areas to ensure compliance and identify potential risks.
  7. Prepare and present a monthly Food Safety Performance Trend Report and meet with stakeholders to discuss findings.
  8. Ensure that the established schedule completes thermometer verifications.
  9. Contribute to internal audits such as FSSC 22000, BRC, United Airlines, British Airways, and Madina audits.
  10. Conduct supplier audits per the audit plan to ensure food safety compliance within the supply chain.
  11. Facilitate and support airline, commercial customer, and regulatory audits and inspections as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate/Diploma in Food Safety, Microbiology, or Biotechnology.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Course (preferable).
  • Experience with FSSC 22000, BRC, and ISO 17025 certifications is highly desirable.

Work Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in food safety and microbiology, strongly focusing on food safety compliance and quality assurance.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for effective team coordination and stakeholder engagement.
