Job Overview:
The Specialist in Gastroenterology is responsible for diagnosing medical conditions and providing comprehensive treatment, focusing on the overall health of the patient. This includes addressing physical, psychological, and social aspects of care.

Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Patient Care:

Provide high-quality gastroenterology care according to evidence-based standards.
Use professional judgment to ensure patient well-being in alignment with Al-Futtaim Health Medical Staff bylaws and regulations.
Medical Procedures and Diagnostics:

Perform endoscopic procedures to examine internal organs.
Conduct X-rays, MRIs, and other relevant ultrasound scans.
Perform surgeries on the digestive tract as needed.
On-Call and Oversight:

Participate equitably in the on-call roster.
Contribute to the oversight and professional development of junior medical staff in the department.
Education and Audits:

Engage in the educational activities of the medical staff.
Conduct clinical audits as required by the medical advisory committee.
Department and Facility Development:

Participate in review and planning activities for the development of the department and healthcare facility.
Promote the department and Al-Futtaim Health to the general public and the wider medical community in the UAE.
Professional Competency:

Maintain professional competency in all aspects of gastroenterology.
Undertake other duties within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities as assigned.
Patient Care Responsibilities:

Provide specialist-level patient care in gastroenterology.
Liaise with patients, families, medical staff, nursing staff, other clinical staff, and referring doctors.

Ethical Practice and Safety:

Prescribe and interpret lab and diagnostic tests to uncover underlying pathologies.
Provide comprehensive instructions for medication administration.
Clinical Decisions and Opinions:

Make autonomous clinical decisions regarding presenting problems.
Offer expert clinical opinions in gastroenterology and take independent responsibility for patient care.
Develop and administer healthcare management plans in consultation with patients and current treatment protocols.
Provide holistic care and health education.
Manage patient admissions and discharges, making referrals as appropriate.
Assessment and Communication:

Perform comprehensive and systematic assessments of patients, managing them based on clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice.
Maintain good communication channels with other specialist services to optimize patient care and outcomes.
Prescribe in accordance with practice-based systems, guidelines, and protocols.
Fulfill all duties and responsibilities typical of a Specialist Gastroenterologist working alongside primary care providers.

Required Skills for Success:

Qualifications:
MBBS, MBchB, or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Completion of a specialty qualification recognized by the Dubai Health Authority, Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, or Ministry of Health UAE.
Appropriate experience and competence in all aspects of gastroenterology.
Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support.
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience at a specialist level post higher qualification.
