Timely Delivery:
- Ensure prompt and efficient delivery of catering items to designated airport locations, adhering to airline specifications and established SOPs.
Coordination with Airside Loading Team (ALT):
- Assist the ALT with loading and offloading catering supplies onto aircraft, ensuring all flight requirements are met before departure.
High Loader Operations: - Safely position and operate high-loader equipment near aircraft, following SOPs to enable smooth and secure loading/offloading activities.
Vehicle Inspections: - Conduct comprehensive pre-trip inspections of vehicles, identifying and reporting mechanical issues to avoid disruptions during airside operations.
Cargo Handling: - Pre-cool vehicle chillers and secure cargo belts to prevent damage to catering supplies and equipment during transit.
Safe Driving Practices: - Drive in compliance with U.A.E. traffic laws and Dubai International Airport (DIA) ramp safety regulations, ensuring operational safety at all times.
Health & Safety Compliance: - Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and vehicle regulations, reporting any observed damages or defects to maintain a safe working environment for all staff.
Job Context - Emirates Flight Catering operates one of the busiest in-flight catering facilities in the Middle East, located at Dubai International Airport, serving over 100 airlines 24/7.
The Airside Operations department oversees transport, loading teams, and the Operations Control Centre to manage airside activities effectively. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring timely and accurate delivery of catering supplies and supporting the ALT in meeting all pre-departure flight provisioning requirements. Adherence to Food Safety, Health & Safety (HSE) standards, and DIA ramp safety regulations is essential for successful execution in this dynamic environment.
- Essential Requirements and Competencies
Qualifications: - High School Certificate or equivalent (mandatory).
- Valid U.A.E. driving license (#4 Heavy Truck) required.
Work Experience - At least 5 years of experience in a logistics or transport environment, preferably as a truck driver or in a similar role.
Skills and Knowledge: - Proficiency in written and spoken English with strong attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance, including tire pressure checks and monitoring oil and water levels.
- Familiarity with First Aid, safety protocols, and basic firefighting is preferred.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded vehicle.
- Eligibility to obtain a Restricted Area Security Pass.
- Physical and Teamwork Abilities
- Physically fit to perform manual handling tasks, such as bending, kneeling, stooping, and ladder use.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to work in shifts as required.
