Job Purpose
The Safety Specialist – Engineering plays a critical role in promoting and ensuring safety across Engineering, Flight, and Cabin operations. This involves conducting investigations into incidents, accidents, safety hazards, and events, in alignment with internal and external safety standards. The position provides expert support to the Manager of Engineering & Ground Operations Safety (MEGOS) on aviation safety matters.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Event Investigations
- Collaborate with operational departments to promptly gather documentation and information related to safety event investigations.
- Review investigation findings and corrective/preventive actions with MEGOS.
- Develop actionable recommendations based on industry best practices, ensuring their effectiveness through discussions with management.
2. Communication and Implementation - Communicate recommended actions to operational teams and monitor their implementation progress.
- Provide feedback on Safety Management System (SMS) efficiency, including reporting processes across operations and third-party contractors.
3. Safety Awareness and Promotion - Offer expert guidance to the Safety Promotions team to develop impactful safety awareness training and campaigns.
- Actively participate in safety campaigns to foster a strong safety culture.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting - Conduct detailed analyses of safety data to identify trends and highlight significant safety occurrences.
- Present statistical summaries and insights to MEGOS and other stakeholders.
5. Risk and Hazard Management - Assist operational departments in identifying hazards and developing effective prevention strategies.
- Contribute to achieving safety targets by managing risks through proactive and predictive safety management practices.
6. Incident Response and Support - Lead safety event investigations involving staff, aircraft, equipment, and facilities under MEGOS guidance.
- Provide on-demand support for formal Group Safety investigations by collecting and verifying factual information.
7. Representation and Expertise - Represent the Engineering Safety Manager in management and safety meetings as required.
- Stay updated on safety-critical procedures and undergo specialized training to ensure expert support and advice.

- Qualifications & Experience
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria: - Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (12+3) in an Engineering-related field.
Professional Experience - At least 5 years of experience in Aviation Maintenance or Engineering Safety.
Skills and Competencies - Proficiency in English, with strong abilities in stakeholder communication, facilitation, presentation, quality assurance, and professional report writing (focused on safety investigations).
- Competence in utilizing IT applications and online systems.
- Additional Certifications and Licenses
- Certification in Safety or Compliance is an advantage.
- A basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AEML) is highly desirable.
