Role Overview:
The Senior Tax Accountant will support the Tax Back-Office team at Al-Futtaim Group. The position involves managing various operational tax responsibilities, including preparing direct and indirect tax returns. Close collaboration with the Group Tax team is required to ensure compliance with tax regulations and efficient tax processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Tax Returns Preparation:
    Prepare and submit monthly VAT and WHT returns across different regions, ensuring timely and accurate processing for submission to the relevant authorities and managing liability settlements.
  • Tax Compliance:
    Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance by maintaining an updated monthly calendar and tracker for the timely filing of tax returns. Review and manage complex income tax returns in alignment with country-specific tax calendars.
  • Tax Accounting:
    Support the Tax Back-Office in tracking tax provisions and balances in the general ledger, ensuring accurate accounting for tax-related transactions.
  • Tax Document Management:
    Oversee the collection and organization of all relevant tax documents in a centralized database. Manage information requests effectively.
  • Tax Audits:
    Assist the Tax Manager by coordinating tax audits and providing all required documentation and information.
  • Automation Support:
    Assist in resolving VAT system issues by working closely with the IT team and the Assistant Financial Controller. Support the ongoing automation and streamlining of tax processes to improve efficiency.
  • Tax Reporting:
    Prepare and deliver ad-hoc reports as requested by management, ensuring timely and accurate data for decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Process Improvement:
    Work closely with relevant managers and stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on key topics. Contribute to the development of improved business solutions and tax processes.

Required Skills:

  • Strong accounting and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP (preferred) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Analytical thinking and troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex tax-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Tax, Finance, or a related field. Regional tax knowledge is a plus.
  • 3–5 years of experience in GCC tax matters.
  • 1–2 years of experience in an international finance environment.
