The Senior Buyer plays a key role in sourcing and procuring product ranges that align with customer needs while optimizing cost, quality, and availability to maximize profitability. This position supports the General Manager – Planning & Merchandising by developing strategic plans for brand assortment, product range, inventory management, and margins, ensuring both short- and long-term business growth for MAF Lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement a buying strategy aligned with MAF Lifestyle and brand guidelines.
- Contribute to the formulation of annual business plans, budgets, and buying strategies, monitoring performance and initiating corrective actions to meet financial targets.
Vendor and Procurement Management: - Oversee vendor sourcing, contract negotiation, and purchasing activities to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring adherence to contractual agreements.
- Negotiate pricing, shipment costs, payment terms, and intake margins to support business goals.
Inventory and Product Range: - Create commercially viable product ranges that maximize sales and profitability.
- Develop and manage the OTB (Open-to-Buy) by store, category, and subcategory.
- Monitor and control stock levels, reducing lost sales and ensuring a balanced product mix through strategic purchasing.
Customer-Centric Approach: - Stay informed on customer trends, demographics, and preferences to ensure product selections enhance the customer experience.
- Conduct fashion trends and product training for store teams, especially during new product launches or seasonal changes.
Financial Performance: - Drive financial success by meeting targets for OTB, margins, sell-through rates, and markdowns.
Monitor and report on performance metrics, taking proactive steps to address risks or challenges.
Requirements
Experience: - 4-5 years in a senior merchandising role, with mandatory experience in retail.
Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Marketing, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in Retail Management, Purchasing, Sales, or related disciplines are preferred.
