The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring product ranges at optimal cost, quality, and availability to meet customer needs, maximize profits, and ensure a commercially viable selection of merchandise for the MAF Lifestyle business. The Senior Buyer will support the General Manager of Planning and Merchandising in defining and presenting short—and long-term strategic approaches, identifying future growth opportunities, and addressing risk areas related to brand assortment, product ranges, inventory positioning, and margin management.

ROLE PROFILE :

  • Develop a suitable buying strategy, approach, and plan in alignment with Brand and MAF Lifestyle guidelines.
  • Direct and manage various functional aspects of vendor sourcing and development, contract negotiation, purchasing, and coordination with the supply chain and warehouse to ensure optimal efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure developing and procuring commercially viable and profitable product ranges to maximize profit and sales.
  • Build the Open-To-Buy (OTB) by store, category, and subcategory.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to manage and control all aspects of stock to minimize lost sales, improve buying practices, and maintain a balanced product mix through careful and strategic purchasing.
  • Contribute to developing annual business plans, associated budgets, and buying strategies, monitor performance against these plans, and initiate corrective actions to ensure operations remain within agreed financial parameters and targets.
  • Achieve set financial targets related to all buying activities, including OTB, margins, sell-through rates, and markdowns.
  • Negotiate product pricing, shipping costs, payment terms, intake margins, and terms with local vendors, focusing on business effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain profitable relationships with existing suppliers and monitor compliance with all contractual terms.
  • Stay informed about customer trends, demographic shifts, and other influences to ensure buying decisions align with customer preferences, enhancing the overall customer experience.
  • Conduct training on fashion trends and product launches for store teams as needed.

REQUIREMENTS :

  •  4-5 years of experience in a senior merchandising role.
  • Mandatory experience in a retail environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Fashion, Marketing, or a related field. – Qualification in Retail
  • Management, Purchasing, Sales, or related subjects.
