Role Overview
The Specialist Pediatrician is responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions in children, focusing on their overall health, which encompasses physical, psychological, and social well-being.

  • Key Responsibilities
    Patient Care: Provide comprehensive pediatric care based on the latest evidence-based standards, ensuring adherence to Al-Futtaim Health Medical Staff bylaws and regulations.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate equitably in the on-call roster to support patient needs.
  • Mentorship: Oversee and mentor junior medical staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Education: Engage in educational activities for the medical staff, enhancing knowledge and skills within the department.
  • Clinical Audits: Conduct clinical audits in compliance with medical advisory committee requirements.
  • Department Development: Participate in planning and review activities to support the growth of the department and healthcare facility.
  • Community Engagement: Promote the department and Al-Futtaim Health within the public and medical communities in the UAE.
  • Continuing Education: Maintain professional competency through ongoing education in pediatric care.
  • Patient Liaison: Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Research and Development: Stay updated on current trends and advancements in pediatrics, contributing to research initiatives.
  • Quality Patient Care: Demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and improving health outcomes.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient treatment.
  • Patient Safety: Uphold ethical medical practices and ensure patient safety in accordance with local regulations.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Make informed diagnoses based on medical history, examinations, and test results; prescribe and interpret lab tests as needed.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe medications and provide clear instructions for administration.
  • Autonomous Decision-Making: Make independent clinical decisions for patient care, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Healthcare Management: Develop and implement healthcare management plans in collaboration with patients, following established protocols.
  • Holistic Care: Provide holistic care and health education to patients and families.
  • Patient Admissions/Discharges: Manage patient admissions and discharges, ensuring appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Clinical Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments and manage patient care according to clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Collaboration with Specialists: Maintain effective communication with other specialists to enhance patient treatment outcomes.
  • Prescribing Practices: Prescribe medications in line with practice guidelines and protocols.
  • General Duties: Fulfill all standard responsibilities associated with the role of a Specialist Pediatrician, collaborating with primary care providers.

  • Qualifications and Knowledge
    Educational Background: MBBS, MBchB, or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Specialty Qualification: Completion of a specialty qualification recognized by the Dubai Health Authority, Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, or the Ministry of Health, UAE.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience at a specialist level since obtaining the higher qualification.
